Merry Christmas

Well, we don't have any court news or else I would have had a more exciting, exclamation ridden title for this post. We did get an email from our agency saying the date is coming and it will be at the end of February. Although this is not exactly what I wanted to hear, at least there is a glimmer of light at the end of our adoption tunnel. It's definitely sad to me to think of the time we are missing with Jost, but I can definitely hold on for an extra month if that's what it takes to bring him home.

We are in Seattle for the holidays. It took 2 days to drive up here. The weather is crazy - tons of snow, tons of bad drivers in the snow, and rain (of course, it's Seattle). It will be fun to have a white Christmas since our usual Bay Area Christmases are either sunny or damp-ish.

Have a merry, merry Christmas everyone!

A Little Movement

FYI, the director of our agency filed our court papers on Wednesday. We should have a court date by early next week. We still aren't sure what the date will be, so please keep your fingers crossed for late January or early February. If the court date is not until March I might become a little suicidal (don't worry, that just means I will eat copious amounts of chocolate and indulge in some retail therapy).

Update on court stuff and cool baby clothes

We got an email from our agency director this morning. She has been in Ethiopia since last week. She said Jost is doing well and that the orphanage shaved his head again. What's up with the shaving? Jost has beautiful curls that are super cute. Poor kid, he probably feels naked and a little drafty on the top of his dome. Wish I could send him a hat or something.

Anyways, we are supposed to hear by Wednesday/Thursday about our court date. We are hoping that miracles will occur and we'll get a date in January although February is probably a more realistic month.

On a more fun note, I have discovered great baby/toddler clothes called Baby Soy. The clothes are made out of eco-friendly soybean fiber. I know, it sounds weird but they are really soft and cute. Check out the picture of their kimono style onesie (I got one for Jost, natch).

That's all for now, will post the court date when we get it!

This is how I feel...

This is how I feel right now. We are STILL waiting for a court date and although we know our agency is doing everything they can right now, it kind of doesn't make us feel any better. We are hoping to have SOME kind of news in the next week. I will post any updates as soon as we get them.

Background on the picture: This is a little girl in Soweto, South Africa. We went to Soweto last fall. It was amazing and depressing. All the kids liked my camera and wanted to take pictures. This was a self-photo. Hilarious!
