I looked at the blog today and realized I haven't written anything since LAST YEAR. Good grief, I need to be a little more on top of it. Anyways, here's the scoop on life at our house -
Nick and I practiced being parents by staying home on New Years Eve and eating burritos. We barely made it to midnight - meaning we fell asleep and kind of woke-up around midnight and then went to bed with all the dogs.
I have been stressing about the California state budget 'cause all of the work my agency does is tied in some way to the state. It's making me stay awake at night and go into catastrophizing mode (is that a word?). I am trying to keep things in perspective and know that many people are concerned about budget/job issues, but I am nervous about everything and don't know what the future holds.
On a much brighter note I had a beautiful baby shower with my family and close friends on Saturday. My mother-in-law hosted the shower at her house on the coast (near Half Moon Bay). It was a beautiful day - sunny, warm, and a special time for me. Many many thanks to everyone who came and special thanks to Kathy, Anastasia, Kiera and Jessica for all their tender care and attention to details. It's so great to know that Jost is coming home to this HUGE network of people that are so excited to love him. My sister made this fantastic book for Jost that has pictures and messages from our family and friends, welcoming him home. I am sure this will be special for Jost his entire life. It will certainly be precious to us forever.
I hosted a luncheon yesterday with 3 other potential adoptive moms from our agency who live in the Bay Area. It was great to have other people to talk to that are familiar with the crazy acronyms used in adoption and the mood swings and the ice cream eating. I am looking forward to all of us being able to bring our kids home and kick it in the yard.
So, that's about all that is going on. I will try to post more often and be more entertaining so people will keep reading. :)
